What’s keeping tech leaders up all night might not surprise you because they are probably the same thing on everyone’s mind post pandemic. According to the recent article in ComputerWeekly.com https://www.computerweekly.com/opinion/Five-key-tech-trends-for-digital-leaders-in-2022, the past two years have seen a surge in investment that is likely to continue in the post-pandemic we are entering.
“2020 saw the biggest surge in technology spend we have ever recorded. There was little let-up on this in 2021 and in fact digital leaders reported their highest-ever levels of optimism for increasing budgets and headcount during 2022.”
Companies are scrambling to upgrade their technology to meet the accelerated needs of remote work along with creating more delivery methods and channels to meet customers where they are.
“Cyber security has loomed large on the agenda for many years, but the sheer pace of digital change through the pandemic has made it even more critical.”
At the same the time needs for more diligence increases, the cyber skills shortage is getting worse.
And, you may have also noticed that everyone is competing for talent against Netflix, Amazon and Google. Coupled with the amplified surge in hiring to meet these demands, we are also looking for more diversity in these key tech leadership roles. Only ¼ of tech teams as a whole are female.
The good news is that as remote work creates more opportunities for working mothers, this is likely to change.
The bad news is that the skills shortage presents an overarching problem in many different areas. No matter what business we’re in, to a large extent we are all tech companies now and digital transformation is on everyone’s mind.
