If so, let me provide you with a real life example.
Here’s the background. Vitamin Shoppe is a leading health retailer with over 300 stores throughout the US and Canada. Their brand is built on their trained and knowledgeable sales advisors and time and again they turned to Brandemix to align their employees with the requisite skills and competencies for career advancement.
One day I went to Vitamin Shoppe’s Corporate Headquarters to meet with our client, David Fitton, VP of Learning and Development and talk about several upcoming projects he wanted our help with.
As he came to greet me in the reception area, he casually asked me if I took vitamins and if so, did I want to stop at the employee store and do any shopping. I said that I used to take vitamins but they made me sick. To which he replied, “Where did you get them from” and I named a well-known big box retailer. He said “that’s probably why,” and went on to educate me about how different retailers add different ingredients to their store brands, and how I need to be careful about where I buy from and check the labels. This was news to me so we then took a stroll through the Employee Store featuring a wide array of products.
As we went up and down the aisles, David offered his suggestions, comments and recommendations based on what he knew, what he took, and what he perceived might be helpful for me based on my age, weight and wellness goals.
$200 later (my total spend at employee discounted price) we finally made our way into his office for an enlightening conversation about his vision for The Vitamin Shoppe employee recruiting tool kit, and in-store promotions based on their employer brand attributes. David Fitton exemplified what I believe to be a truly engaged employee- one who is invested in the brand, the business, the customers and their partners.
We went on to produce a great body of work together.
